we were planning on getting a biopsy and doing endoscopy on Beau in a few weeks,so we had to take him off the steroids for now.I made lamb and brown rice and mixed up a little of the canned food and he just loves it.His appetite has improved 100%.He has gained 2 lbs and has alot more energy. Our vet feels it might not be IBD,but possibly ulcers. We are not sure about the endoscopy at this time because he is doing so well, and why not leave well enough alone. No vomiting and his stools are normal looking. The only medication that he is on is antibiotics and Sucralfate liquid before he eats to coat his stomach.

Thanks so much for the update! We scoped Posh from both ends. I am glad he seems to be feeling better poor kid! Sharon called me and said she was out of town. She said you guys left a message but she had a hard time hearing the phone number you left. She asked me to ask you to please try and call her again. She didn't want you to think she was ignoring you in anyway. She is just out of town a dog shows etc......Hope you guys can connect. Please keep us updated on Beau. I know that with Posh we went thru every possibility until e finally figured out what her problem was. It's not always so easy. Good luck!!! Devi

Hello I thought I could add some info for Beau If Beau has a possible ulcer or IBD, you may want to reconsider brown rice. Brown rice is tremendously higher in natural fiber and is a more complexe carbohydrate so in fact, you could actually be contributing to the problem by using brown rice. While white rice is never really recommended, it would be easier and softer on his insides. Naturally there are always two sides to any coin, and the trade off with white rice is possible candidae, but it seems that your core problem right now is internal stomach issues and switching might help alot. You could also consider fillers like millet as well. The more complexe the carb, the more gas that is produced in the stomach and colon. PS - there are some antibiotics and certainly steroids that cause colon issues and maybe just by stopping them, you've solved the problem. Best of luck Kathy M
