Zephyr was on Eagle Pack Holistic Blend for about 9 months. I also added N-R-G ( a dehydrated food ) to his diet at a 50-50 mix. He did very well on it. I just switched to Go! Natural. So far so good!! He also gets banana's, yogurt, sardines 4 times a week, cucumbers, green pepper, peanut butter, and whatever other healthy fruits and veg's we can find. Sardines are the best! He shed's 90% less then before, has great skin and a great coat! Devi

Chloe is also on Go! Natural, grainless, and Now! (same brand grainfree) This has been the best food yet! All of them except the N-R-G she would stop eating after awhile, or stools werent so good. But the Go! seems to be working awesome She also gets veggies and fruits. Loves bananas, peas, carrots, peanut butter, spinach, cucumber, apples, pears, sardines, and probiotic yogurt to name a few. She also gets 2000 mg of omega 3 fish oil (pill) a day to keep her coat looking good.

All my gang is now on a Raw diet for the last month. I was one of the sceptical ones ..but can see the benefits We used Royal Canin Bulldog, Nutro before. Now on Raw Frozen patties, all balanced made from chicken, liver, venison, fruits and veggies. Also, probiotic garlic, alfafa, fish oil . They are made locally by a great dane breeder who also owns a farm.My nursing bitches are getting sardines. Simply GREAT!! Picky eaters are no longer picky..they are so anxious to get their food..jumping and barking. Positive on coat, I'm seing hairs growing back on Rose's legs that was missing for years! Smaller stools, dogs have more energy , drink less , and are leaner . I can even bring back my females nursing , in the ring in couple of weeks, they haven't lost their hairs like they used to be. They are getting a special formula patty .They have plenty of milk!

Since Mocha was diagnosed with Mastcell cancer back in August she has stopped receiving the Wellness (Sweet potato & fish) i was feeding her. She is on a totally human food diet, of lean organic meats, veggies, eggs, and brown rice. I think this too has been an important part of her outliving her oncologists prediction.

Our first Shar Pei was only ever feed good quality dog food. We lost her at 6 1/2 to stomach cancer. Not much of a leap to think it was related to what she ate. With Aurora I am totally open to a different diet or supplementing her diet with raw food. Fruits, vegetables, sardines make sense to me. What quantities do you feed daily? Thanks for your help.

My train of thought on how much to feed is left up to the puppy. I mix up what I think is 3 portions. I then put it all down and see what they eat. Picking up the rest and serving it agin for lunch, then for supper. I have found with my Shar Pei that they are not huge eaters and really tend NOT to over eat at meal time. That is my experience. I know that had we given Jovi 6 cups of food per sitting, she would have ate it all! So we simple guessed and over a few days we came down to what we thought was enough. Jovi is 6.5 months old and we just started feeding her twice a day rather then 3 times a day. I would say she eats 3/4 a cup per sitting, so 1.5 cups a day. Zephyr, at 1.5 years old gets what I would think is 2.5 cups a day. We simply watch their weight and see how much they eat at meal time and go from there. We add sardines everyday. Plus fruits, veg's and yogurt. Devi

Melissa, how is it doing on raw diet? My dogs are doing great and they love the sardines ( not the canned ones) , liver, heart that I'm adding. I read that you now own a horsecoat , I missed the original post, where is he from?

Update on feeding. So I switched up my brand yet again for Zerphyr. I have been feeding him Wellness Ocean for 3 weeks mixed with his N-R-G dehydrated. So far so good. I also add MISSING LINK everyday for his coat, skin and to reduce shedding. One thing I think I discovered is he might be allergic to his favorite treat. SWEET POTATOES, also called Yams. I will try feeding them agin in a few months but fully expect it to cause itching. If that happens I will remove this treat forever from his diet. A real shame! He still gets a single whole banana every single day! He loves them! Zephyr is a skinny lanky dog therefore the calories of a whole banana are not at all an issue. As for Jovi? She is still on Go Natural and Now brand kibble mixed 50/50 with N-R-G. She is doing great! Devi

Chloe LOVES raw. I am lucky that she will only eat until she is full and then will stop eating. She is eager to eat the raw ... whereas the kibble was a struggle to get her to eat.
