Hello Melissa! My name is Michelle and this is my girl, Mocha! She is 6 years old. I bought her from a breeder in Alberta Canada and had her flown to the USA.  Unfortunately, as of 7 weeks ago she was diagnosed with Mast Cell Cancer (stage 3.)  She has had surgery and 4 chemotherapy sessions, but the prognosis isn't good.  We are appreciating every single moment with her now.  She had a small lump on her side which you could feel (but not see)it seemed to get bigger and smaller.  Her vet never took a sample because she thought it was just another "shar-pei" skin issue.  That was two years ago!  She developed a large totally different one on her chest this past July that was so gross and grew outside that her vet took a sample and found out it was Mast cell.  When we took her to an Onocologist we were advised that she had 4 areas on her that had Mast Cells present and the original tiny lump on her side the my vet overlooked two years ago was one of them.  Mast Cell can take on many faces.  We are just devastated. This was my first Shar-pei (i've always owned dogs) and this breed is by far my favorite.

Michelle, I am so sorry to hear about your baby! Such sadness seems so unfair at times. I am glad she has you as a Mom!!! Love does not concure all, but love does get you thru. I wish you the best.....Thank you so much for sharing, and welcome....Devi

michelle sorry to here about your dog having mastcell, my dog sassy died of it last october, but lived with neally 3 years after diagnosis, fingers crossed. you will have the same with your baby
