I was wondering what other Shar Pei owners give as extra supplements to their diets? And WHY? I have always believed that given a proper diet, there should be no need for adding extra's. As time goes by and I learn more, I am learning to bend and consider things.

The only extra I currently give Zephyr is a Glucosamine supplement. It also contains MSM. I bought a brand made for canines only. Not something from a health food store. Although I am certain that would have been as good, and maybe less costly.

Jovi our 5 month old is on 1500mg of vitamin C a day till she is 7 months old, then we will reduce that to 1000mg till she is 18 months old. She also gets yogurt as a source of calcium for her bones.

I fully believe the diet I feed, plus the extra things such as fruits and veg's are more then enough, however I am looking at other supplements. Please enlighten me to your dietary regiment, and why you give what you do.

For Chloe I give fish oil capsules. I forget how much, but it is two capsules. I found when I took her off it she began to get patchy bald spots. Also if I kept her on one capsule it didnt help - 2 was the magical number. That is the only extra thing I give to Chloe.

I have resently added MISSING LINK to Zephyr's diet. I did so to reduce  shedding among other things. The sardines help but in the winter it's just so dry we need all the help we can get! MISSING LINK is an amazing product! They also make it for humans and I have used it for many many years myself. It's easy to use and a bag lasts about 90 days. It's a product worth trying!

Melissa, Missing Link is an amzing product. I think it's great for dogs as well as the humans. They have a HUMAN ONLY forumula. I have noticed a reduction in shedding beyond what the sardines have shown. If you do try it, please introduce it slowly. Devi

I am giving it to Zephyr in the hopes he gains weight. The product is an all-in-one coat and body optimizer. It's high (quality) fat content may gain me the results I am loooking for.  The product is great for gaining an incredibly shiney coat, reduces shedding and itching, aids in sturdy heathy joints and boosts immunity among other things. I was told that I should see results in 2 weeks. I am willing to give it 4 weeks! Stay tuned. One thing I already know? Zephyr loves the taste!
